"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Purple for Lent

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday...marking the beginning of the Lenten Season.

For two years in a row we hung simple purple ribbon in the front of the sanctuary for Lent. Linda, Joan and I planned it out from the church balcony....with me on the floor saying "a little more....a little more" until we got each ribbon band the right length.

We made the purple paraments and stole a few years ago.

We decided to change things up a bit this year and draped a beautiful piece of purple fabric in the front of the sanctuary and used the ribbons on the new windows in the back of the sanctuary. It's a nice effect from both sides.
