"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Floor Repair

precious rainbow scraps
It was just me and Kyle the carpenter today.  I did some sewing...and Kyle spent most of the day on floor repair. It was interesting to watch the process....and anyone reading this is stuck watching the process too.

This is how it looked this morning.

He used boards as guides to help make nice straight cuts.

Next he had to keep shaving the new oak board a little at a time until it fit perfectly...which it does.

This is how it looked at the end of the day.  It still need to be sanded, stained and sealed....I think it's going to be an interesting architectural transition to have it going in the opposite direction.
He also worked on some open kitchen shelving that I'll share tomorrow.
