"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

"An Ordinary Life"

"Do not ask your children to strive for extraordinary lives. Help them instead to find the wonder and the marvel of an ordinary life.

Show them the joy of tasting tomatoes, apples and pears. Show them how to cry when pets and people die. Show them the infinite pleasure in the touch of a hand. And make the ordinary come alive for them. The extraordinary will take care of itself."

William Martin

My sweet nephews, Henry and Charles, were lucky enough to spend these first years of their life growing up on the same farm that I did...doing lots of extraordinary, ordinary things. Soon they'll be off to new adventures finding the wonder in the ordinary at their new home in California.

The three of us took turns playing this Rubik's Race Game for over an hour when I was there. It was a good one.
