The day started with breakfast out with your oldest son followed by a visit to the tulip garden in our old Portland neighborhood on the way home.
It was fun photographing the tulips in the rain.
My first thought was...oh shoot...they are starting to go by. But I was immediately reminded how beautiful they are when they start to fade and I switched to oh my...they're wabi-sabi beautiful. There is such beauty in imperfection.
In a patch of pink....why not be orange.
I shared my absolute favorite tulip story of all time exactly two years ago and involving my mother in law Margie. I shared this story during her memorial service that fall including the video of her singing the tulip song. It was perfect.
The story has three parts if you are interested....you can read the first part here in this post:
The second part is here with a link to Margie's tulip song at the end of my Instagram post.
And the third part of the story is here:
These are just a couple of my favorite photos from that special tulip patch.
Gorgeous tulips and pictures regardless of the stage! My dream is to attend a tulip festival (perhaps Holland, MI) but I am certain all of the pollen would do me in. However, if I can have a 2D version via your photos- I'll take it! Thanks so much!

Thanks Kathy! I've always dreamed of going to Holland too! What an experience that might be! We can dream!
DeleteAs many others have said, your stories, aTy and photos lift my mornings! Maine is the only state I’ve never been to, but when I do, I’d love to meet you. Did you know there’s another tulip festival in LaConner, Washington? It takes place in April. We haven’t been for that, but will visit LaConner this summer (on our 4 month annual RV trip to escape the Phoenix heat) to visit the Pacific Northwest Quilt and Fiber Museum.
ReplyDeleteHave a simply amazing day!
So happy to be part of your morning routine Kathy! The tulip festival in LaConner sounds lovely and the Pacific Northwest must be a wonderful place to retreat to. The quilt and fiber museum must be amazing!
