"Hey world...we're here!" That's the text I got this morning from Patty along with this first photo to alert me that the baby house finches hatched! One was ready for some food!
I walked down a little later in the morning....and they were sound asleep....just a little pile of feathers. It will be fun to watch them over the next few weeks.
I walked back down later this afternoon and caught momma bird in the nest. The only thing better than having this little family right down the street is having a good friend right down the street. Lucky me!
And look at this fabulous found object! Thanks Paul!
It was a good day to be here!

Isn't it just such a magnificent gift to watch this part of the life cycle of nearby birds? Those sweet house finches! Terrific finch photos, MaryAnn!
ReplyDeleteAnd, as you point out: topped only by having a good friend right down the street also.
All punctuated by a fabulous found heart.
Yes....it IS magnificent Dotty! I just love when something like this just lands right in front of me. Such sweet diversion from the chaos.
DeleteThat first photo was taken by Patty!
Oh how fun to be able to watch the nest 🪺. It’s amazing how wide they can open their beaks.
ReplyDeleteFun indeed! And yes...that MOUTH!
DeleteOur bluebirds have fledged two sets of young so far this year - such fun to watch. What a lovely found object - I would treasure it, too.
ReplyDeleteWe have several bluebirds that visit for their dried mealworms every day....but I can't get them to nest in my bluebird house.
DeleteWhat an all time fantastic photo of the nest from above. Wow! And you hit a favorite color of mine with your heart. Great eyes, Paul. I’m off to do flowers at the cemeteries today. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Louise! That one was taken by Patty! Nice of you to to take flowers to the cemetery....that is sacred work. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend too!
