"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Field Trip Friday

Today was a wonderful day filled with so many good things.  But it was also "field trip Friday" which took us to Maynard, Massachusetts, a small town of about 10,000 just a little west of us.  It was a lovely drive with everything so lush and green.

Maynard is an old mill town that produced wool fabric for over 100 years up until 1950.  It appears that the old mills are being reinvented and business are moving in. It seems like such a happy little town.

We at lunch in #5 at Battle Road Brew House....a BBQ place recommended by a friend.  It was in one of the old mills and quite fun and funky....

...right along the Assabet river.

A interesting neon light fixture high on the ceiling.

Right in the center was this splash of color...some sort of a nod to types of cancer.

As we were driving to Maynard there were a couple of things that caught my eye. On the way home my thoughtful husband stopped at both so I could enjoy the scenery...and of course take a few photos.
The first stop was this beautiful field.....and in no way do these photos do the colors justice.

The second was this spectacular stone wall.

I had to walk the whole length of the wall....I absolutely loved the way the stones were puzzled in. It was so cool!

Another successful field trip! Thanks Paul!
