"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Worth the Effort

I think this panoramic view of the beach houses in Brighton is fun....especially with the skyline in the background.  I think I mentioned it in my Steller Story...but Nancy and I estimated that there were about 150 along the boardwalk.

The first day we were in Brighton we walked a long way down the beach and didn't come across them....I thought I was going to just have to let it go because we didn't have that much time.  It seemed like such a silly thing but I couldn't get them out of my mind. The next morning I asked our breakfast waitress about them and learned they were just 10 minutes further down the beach than we were the day before. We had a delightful conversation with her about them....which just added the story for me. We had some time that morning before we met Philippa so rather than choosing other things we headed back to the beach and had a delightful time walking in the wind and taking in the colors.  Well worth the effort!

Revisiting Day 11

I'm getting caught up on my trip photos and have one last Steller Story to share about our last day in London. Nancy and I decided to take a city tour on top of double decker bus allowing us to get a feel of London in the short time we had.

John, our tour guide reminded me of my son Sam who used to give tours of Boston on a pedi-cab. He was fun and knowledgable.

As I mentioned before...that last evening Nancy and I went to a talk in London that Philippa was gave on her book.

It was a small intimate group all seated around a beautiful table where we had delicious canapés and and macaroons all chosen to tap into all our senses.  Philippa shared several experiences that helped us tap into our own memories and stories.

It was an absolute delight!

Story of My Day 8

After a bus trip to London and a train ride to Brighton Nancy and I settled into a cozy B&B and had enough time to scope out the city a bit and walk the pebbly beach.

Story of My Day 1

My computer stayed home and I'm looking forward to being mostly unplugged during my trip to the UK.  My plan is to choose one picture a day and write one sentence...in a "story of the day” kind of way...I’m calling it “story of my day.”  We’ll see how it goes....this is my practice run  and I’ll tell you right now it’s way easier on my computer...but I’m going to try.

Absolutely no lines in the International Terminal and I’m looking forward to a whole row to myself....and did I mention there were flowers in the bathroom?
