"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

A Big LIttle Collection

My husband Paul has a wonderful collection of Big Little Books....and I have claimed them for the bookshelf in the living room.  The Big Little Book series was first published in the 1930's but this set was published in the late 60's in Racine, Wisconsin.

Paul was 9 and 10 when he collected them.  He got 25 cents a week for his allowance and could spend it however he wanted....after he tithed 10% to the church. I'm not kidding...he even had envelopes.  He chose to buy books...not all that different from today.

The spear on the right is a tobacco spear...but that's another story for another time.

I also love the little Pinocchio puzzle Paul had as a kid.
