"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Good Friday

It's Good Friday...and, if you're a Christian you know what that means.

Several years ago Paul and I were taking a drive and we just happened to end up in Harvard, Massachusetts. Not Harvard the University...Harvard the charming small town just northwest of Boston.  While there, we stumbled on the Fruitlands Museum....the site of an unsuccessful utopian community in the 1800's. The grounds have been preserved and are now open to the public. They host weddings and events and offer galleries featuring Shaker and Native American art as well as other rotating exhibits.

Off in the distance in a field we saw this ghostly, haunting figure...much like what you would expect to see on Good Friday. We had to get a closer look.

All I can say is Wow!

I tried to track down the name of the artist...but didn't have any luck.

For this sculpture he used an old dead tree, uprooted it, turned it upside down and used the natural tangled roots to convey his vision. It was unbelievable and haunting and left quite an impression.

I wish I had a picture with Paul next to it....because it was huge... and I'm not sure the picture does it justice.

It was breathtaking.
