"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Kettle Cove

We spent all afternoon at Kettle Cove....and I used my rainbow parasol the whole time! Kettle Cove has everything we needed....beach for swimming...rocks for climbing and tidal pools to explore. And don't you love the bracelet that Ayla made me?

Ayla spent quite a bit of time looking for crabs in the tidal pools and making friends with all the other beachcombers.

You can see Aras and Ayla's silhouettes climbing out on the rocks. This first photo you can see them walking out.....

...and in this second photo you can just barely see them as they made it to the last rock. They made a good team watching out for one another. It was a good day at Kettle Cove.

  1. Great photo of your colorful parasol and bracelet!! I remember climbing on rocks like these near the ocean as a kid. What a fun vacation for your young visitors! I hope it was a bit cooler near the water than it was inland. So hot! Judy

    1. No...it was hot! I'm not a big ocean swimmer....but dipping my feet in every once in a while helped. Along with that fabulous parasol. We didn't think to take our beach umbrellas. The kids...and adults had a great time.

  2. Match made in heaven, that parasol and companion friendship bracelet! And Aras and Ayla's goat-footed rock-climbing is so evocative when I was their age and spent a few weeks at a cottage in Connecticut on Long Island Sound with my family. I think back often on the magic of the conversation between my eyes and feet that allowed for agile clambering. The best!
