The sky was pretty special this morning!
As is the bloodroot that is just starting to bloom in my garden at the corner of the woods. Just look at that center!
Patty and I had round two of making a lampshade for her bedroom yesterday...we learned from our mistakes during round one. We used leftover fabric from her new curtains...it's a crisp white linen...with pretty floral medallions.
But second time's a charm...and we're happy with the result.
The friend helping a friend make a lampshade....that's who I chose to be yesterday!
The shape of the new shade matches the other shade and another touch of this fabric in the room is fresh and pretty. The photo doesn't do it justice.
While I was in the zone I recovered the lampshade in our TV/playroom...it's been bugging me for years!
I had just enough fabric left over from the living room shade I covered years ago. It's still polka dots...and looks so much better.

I thoroughly enjoyed this in the zone post, MaryAnn. You and Patty did an outstanding job with that polka dot lampshade and it looks terrific in situ—I'm impressed! The polka dot update of the lampshade in your tv/playroom is also terrific; I find the swirled-lines of dots very appealing and just love how that lampshade, your lumbar pillow, and the painting on the wall behind your chair talk to each other. Such a fun space! And look how totally at home the traveling flowers look tucked into place in the garden of objects on the window table. Isn't it fun to have new treats in place for the eye to be enjoyed again and again as you move through your day?
ReplyDeleteThanks Dotty! Patty and I had a good time collaborating....and the fact that we had to do it twice strengthened our resolve...and our friendship. I love the swirly lines of my shade too....I have the same fabric in my living room. And I do love how all my patterns talk to each other. Yes...I love moving things around...it reinvents my enjoyment.
DeleteHow creative are these lampshades!! I love them both! And it's really nice to see more of your colorful home, MaryAnn. The traveling flowers look perfectly at home near your chair and it's fun to see where you write your blog! Today I chose to be a stitcher as I embroidered with my stitch group and thought how great it is to be who we want to be each day! Thanks for that perspective!
ReplyDeleteI love them both too. Thanks Judy! My home is colorful and filled with things I love. Good for you for choosing to be a stitcher yesterday! And the beauty is...you get to choose again today!
