"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

USPS Leg

It rained all day today....but as the saying goes...April shower bring May flowers. But we have moved on from purple crocus to yellow daffodils...and they stood tall by the pond yesterday.

And that got me thinking about the torn paper flowers I used to make during lockdown....
which included a loose interpretation of daffodils.

Once I started making theses little flower gardens...I couldn't stop.
I enjoyed tearing the wonky bits of paper and layering them into a bloom.

So I just kept making them....and sent dozens of cards as a way to spread some joy and connect during that difficult time of isolation. I adored these little collage gardens...so I'm going to play around with them again.

This was a quick little experiment today....It will take me a few tries to get into my groove.
This time...I'm going to play around with vessels.

I can't help but share the next leg of The Traveling Flowers journey while they are in the hands of the USPS. I was tickled that Cheri sent these photos along with the tracking number with....so I've been able to keep watch their progress.

I'm added the USPS leg of the journey in blue. They made one stop in Warrendale, PA....another in a distribution center in Southern Maine. The next stop will be the Portland Post office...then the condo!

  2. Daffodils have a special place in my heart as I lived with my grandmother when I was 5-8 years, old after my mother died, and she had daffodils around each of the trees in her yard. Our home outside of St Louis MO had many, many, many daffodils as I would thin the bulbs and plant them in new areas. I’ve heard the people that bought our house sells the bulbs on Marketplace πŸ˜‚. I have since planted over 150 bulbs at our PA home😁😁😁 All that is to say I love your torn flower daffs!!

  3. Daffodils hold a special place in my family’s heart, too. My immigrant grandparents had the most spectacular gardens and there were numerous occasions when random passers-by would pull their car over and walk through the gardens to talk to them about what they saw. One area in particular was designed as a huge swath of daffies that arched like a rainbow cradling the gardens. It was so glorious. We used to get our school bus in my grandparent’s driveway and many mornings my grandmother had cut daffodils wrapped and ready for me to give to my teacher. Such sweet, sweet memories.
I love all these torn paper pieces but that lovely vessel one takes the cake. ♥️

  6. The daffodils in NE Ohio are just about done especially since that last two night have been at freezing, but every year they multiply and I have more to enjoy the short time they are blooming. Your little flower collages are wonderful!

    1. We are a little behind here in Maine...but a cool spring makes things last longer. We've been below freezing pretty consistently. So fun that your daffodils are multiplying!
