"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Yellow

We're still in daffodil season....but we've also moved onto forsythia. Yellow...is the color of late April in Maine.

By the time most of you read this I will be on a plane to Minneapolis. I will spend a few days with my sister Nancy then we will drive to southern Iowa and meet up with Marilyn and LaVonn....my other two sisters where we will visit our Aunt Beverly....my mother's only sister. My mother would have been 100 this month....and her sister Beverly is 90.

So...that means I will focus on family and be fully present with all that will be going on. I hope to post some sort of a joy nugget every day but my postings will likely be late in the evening...or early in the morning. But if I do miss a day here and there....you'll know why.

I love being home. But I also love spending time with friends and family. I hate to miss one minute of spring in my yard and neighborhood...but I will get to celebrate it in other people's yards and neighborhoods...and that's exciting.

I'm also leaving behind this fabulous Craft Cupboard puzzle...but it will be here when I get back. There's a lot going on....so it's a bit tedious....but it's quite fun.

I put together a little hostess gift....and I had just the right card.
I think the final line of stitching changed everything!
I'll see you in Minneapolis!

  1. Starting at the bottom: YES! to the final line of stitching on your card. Amazing how that one touch doubles the punch without taking over—it showcases the vessel and botanicals fantastically. Have a grand time with family, MaryAnn.

My dad would have been 100 in two weeks : )

  3. I hope you have a wonderful trip, MaryAnn. Yes, things are very yellow around here too, AND the leaves are starting to pop out on the trees - that spring green that I love. Your card is perfect, with some zig zaggy stitching on the sides which is SO you! Love it!! And such a fun puzzle to come home to!! Enjoy your family!!

  6. Oh the pull of wanting to be with family and yet being at home also- I know this all too well. After 35 years with the nicest man on the planet, at times I still want to move back to my home state. Enjoy your time visiting while you are there- it's great that you all can get together. This card is perfect- I love how you can combine so many different mediums and get something so fun and appropriate. JOY abounds!
