"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Spreading the Joy!

Most of you must know by now how happy it makes me when something I do inspires someone to create something of their own. It just makes me smile!  And thank you to those of you who share your projects we me!  I love seeing what you do!

During color week in the Conscious Creativity class I shared the cover of my project where I lined up cutouts of rainbow strips from magazines.

Then for texture week I weaved some of them into a piece...that I turned into a card and delivered today to Margie for Mother's Day.

After seeing the first post....Dotty knew she wanted to do something with colorful catalog and magazine snippets....and just yesterday shared this fabulous rainbow collage on her blog and Instagram page.  I absolutely love the flow and movement...and of course I love the dots! Her piece will now bounce back and inspire me!

You can read Dotty's blog post about her project here:
Her Instagram page is here:
And then Ida sent me this progress photo of her paper tubes....she's already on a roll!  Her  text said: "A couple of hours cutting and rolling. It's so fun to see what you think is going to happen and it turns out totally different. Fun!"  I was pretty tickled!

Then Linda emailed me today wondering if I would share how I make them....and Louise had asked several months ago.

So I'm going to start a little series here on the blog of my process...and how I finish them into an art piece.  And Ida has agreed to let me share progress on her project.

This is a good timing for something like this. I'm not spending a lot of time in the studio right now....I'm focused on all things spring like gardening and just today I repotted all my rain lilies. Pretty soon I'll start washing windows and I have two more weeks in my Conscious Creativity class. So spending time sharing the "how to" on paper tubes will be a good thing to focus on.

Stay tuned!  I love spreading the joy!

  1. MaryAnn, I'm at the point in my day today when I can literally barely keep my eyes opne, but they FLEW WIDE OPEN when I found my own art featured at your blog AND found myself in the wonderful company of Ida who's also been inspired by you AND saw the Mother's Day card for Margie made by you and inspired by you!

I look forward to your paper tube how-to posts. I've made paper beads in the past but your tubes may be slightly different.

    1. I get blurry eyed after 8 too. Your piece blew me away.....I couldn't help but share it. I probably should have asked permission first. Oops. But we both seem pretty comfortable giving a nod to the other.

Paper beads have been around for a long time...I actually remember making them as a kid. You probably won't find that I do things any different...but it will be fun for me to share the process for those who haven't made them before.
