"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Very Special Guests

I had a couple of very special guests in my studio today...first ones in a VERY long time.

Sam's girlfriend Kelly brought her niece Eli over for some art play...and we had a wonderful time. Eli wore the perfect shirt for the occasion.

With Kelly's help, Eli was the one who made a very special card for Margie shortly after her fall.

Eli's first project was a wreath similar to the snippet wreath I made a week or so ago.

She started with a 6 inch circle base cut from watercolor paper. Kelly put a few drops of liquid watercolor down...and Eli smooshed it around with a piece of plastic to fill in the background. She used a pink/orange/yellow color scheme.
Then Eli shopped from my snippet bin and found several watercolor doodle flowers and other bits of this and that to decorate her wreath.

She colored in a few of the doodles with markers.

It was soft and pretty wreath and felt like spring and I forgot to take a photo of the finished product.

We went on to some basic gelli printing using stencils....and that was fun too. I think these very special guests will be back for more art play and I'm already thinking about what we can make next.
