"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Contrast

When Kathy saw The Pink Panther holding the pink ball in yesterday's post...she pointed out that my toys have toys. And that made me smile all day long.

My devil's bit is blooming...and that makes smile too.

I especially love the tight little buds...I think they're just precious.

The devil's bit kind of gets a little lost in with my tall blue salvia which the hummingbirds just love. I keep track the last hummingbird before they migrate. Last year we saw the last one on September 6th.

We saw one today during happy hour...so they haven't headed out yet.

The late summer blooms are contrasted by these tiny signs of fall!  And I love this too!

  1. That devil's bit is quite spectacular!

Fun that you keep track of the last hummingbird seen each year. We have tons currently, but are of course south of you.

I was out living the good life, in a manner of speaking, last evening, and hence another next-day comment from me. Our adventure: headed out on what was to be a 15-20 min. passeggiata on a street not previously explored, discovered a Greenbelt Reservation property, followed a trail not more than 8 minutes in, turned around to return, realized that despite following the trail's red blazes we were not passing landmarks we'd seen on the way in. Earth turning, sun sinking in the sky all the while, we weren't able to find our way out for at least an hour!

    1. Spectacular indeed!

I love thinking about the two of you our for your evening passeggiata....but I get a little panicky thinking about you being lost on a trail. I'm glad you found your way out. Oy!
