"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

I Was Wrong

It's time for a puzzle post....you had to know one was coming.

My niece Holly brought me this puzzle when her family visited this summer. It's one she had done...and she wanted to pass it along to me.

It's not necessarily one I would normally be drawn to....but I was willing to give it a shot. I do enjoy doing seasonal puzzles...and it is September...so I'm thinking about autumn.

As I was sorting the pieces into my album boxes ....I had one of those I don't know if I'm going to enjoy this moments.

The colors were muted and did not initially fill me with delight. But there were interesting textures and patterns....so it had that going for it. But once I got started I found the flow....and the joy. And I'm even loving the muted fall colors. I was ready for that.

I admit it....I was wrong.
I started at the top with the white sky and trees...that was a piece of cake. Then I moved to the buildings. The artist painted the frames of the windows in each building a different color and that made me smile when I discovered that. The house in the middle has purple window frames...and the one on the left has green...and another had red. That made sorting and assembly easy and fun. Then there's the all the linear elements....I love them all. The first two lines of fencing allowed me to connect from side to side...and you know how much I love that.

The linear train track almost made another connection...

but there's a piece I can't find. Yet.

But the next fence and chunk of textured field completed another connection. I'm looking forward to filling in the train and the trees at the top! Lesson learned....don't judge a puzzle by the box. I was wrong about this one....and I'm enjoying every muted minute.

Here's how I manage the pieces in my repurposed abum box covers....and a few small box tops for small sorting. I wasn't wrong about those choices...they work perfectly on my vintage Mickey Mouse TV tray. Thank you for indulging in my puzzle joy today!

  3. Love the puzzle. Autumn (first rain in weeks and a fuzzy bear caterpillar) is truly here in the NW. Your meticulous organization with your puzzles always amazes me. I’m a start with the border and work from Thera gal with lots of room needed for browsing pieces. Have a happy!

    1. This one surprised me Louise! But I'm so enjoying the subdued fall colors and textures. So many things are all lined up....and that's fun for me too. Each puzzle presents a path for me to put it together and that keeps it interesting.
