I did some gel plate printing today and I'm amazed the effects I could get using just powder and paint.
I gathered a bunch of one sided prints (many of them rejects) and worked on both sides of each page. I just kept layering...rolling paint on the gel plate and sprinkling it with powder. I didn't clean the plate in between layers.
Now I have a bunch of two sided prints full of grungy color and texture to play with.

Stunning, MaryAnn! Seeing these prints is such a spirit-lifting gift of joy! I'm especially enamored of the blues and greens depicted in the lefthand photo. I am so heartened knowing that such creativity takes place in this world ❤️
ReplyDeleteI love the blues and greens too. That's my go-to...but I do enjoy the pink and orange combo.
DeleteLove, love, love those!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love that you love them!
DeleteAs usual, MaryAnn, these are gorgeous. Love your colors and glad you are having fun! My Apple skills are still on the learning curve. Tomorrow is more rain and now I’m considering a day off for my brain and having some fun with the gel plate.
ReplyDeletePlaying with the gel plate is the perfect thing for a rainy day! So much potential!
DeleteSuch interesting effects with powder and paint! I can't wait to see what you do with these!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy! It's really fun and addictive. I have a few things brewing with some of the papers.
DeleteYou call them grungy, but they are really lovely! I do love seeing what you are working on.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ellen! They're grungy in a fabulous textural way!
DeleteMary Ann, think I’m missing something what “powder” did you use?
ReplyDeleteThanks Lily
Thanks for asking Lily. I just sprinkle baby powder on top of the paint before pulling the print. It acts as a resist. I actually took some photos today of the process and will be posting more instructions tomorrow. Here's the video where I got the idea. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DNy3pXw5JrS/
