I enjoy this simple painting technique....and have used it several times over the years.
I painted white acrylic swirls with a fine line applicator. After it was dry I added the watercolor. It's easy to paint inside the spaces because the paint acts as a resist.
I love the way the watercolor stains the paint here and there and settles into the little cracks and crevices created by the paint application.

MaryAnn, your swirls are a delight! They feel light and carefree, like bubbles. I admire your dexterity in creating them, and I especially had fun enlarging the images to see those cracks and crevices where the color found its way in : )
ReplyDeleteThanks Dotty....I never grow tired of them. The key for me is to be loose and quick. If I over think or move slowly they don't work out as well.
DeleteI adore these!
ReplyDeleteThanks Roseanne! Me too!
DeleteThis is intriguing, MaryAnn! I love the result and wonder what kind of applicator would produce such a fine line. It looks like a fun process!
ReplyDeleteI think so too...it's really a lot of fun. I'll post more info about the applicators I use for glues and paints.
