"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Prime Real Estate

I didn't have to look very far on my camera roll to find a rainbow. June is for rainbows.

Until the Winslow Farm stand fills with vegetables...my cards get front and center prime real estate. They are currently selling plants...both flowers and vegetables outside and in their greenhouses. Sarah asked me if I would be interested in teaching a cyanotype class at their shot. Yes! I'm in. We are both going to think on it and

I wondered how a cyanotype print would look putting the sharpie words down FIRST...then the plant.  So I did a quick experiment with a maiden hair fern today....I like the texture it creates!

I'm going to play around with a fine tip marker with smaller writing...and maybe even some India ink.

This is one of those times I wish my handwriting was better. I may have better luck with asemic writing.

  1. Rainbow right there in your camera roll!

The Winslow Farm stand is a perfect venue for your cyanotypes, MaryAnn, and I love that they are currently surrounded by so much spaciousness. And what fun that you and Sarah are both considering your possibly teaching a cyanotype class at their shop—seems like it'd be a lovely partnership.

Your own ongoing cyanotype experimentation is wonderful. One idea begets another begets another …

    1. Thanks Dotty....it seems like a good fit. And I see what you mean about the spaciousness. It's also fun to see them later in the season surrounded by tomatoes and blueberries.

Is't that the truth....one idea begets another! Eventually we hit on something that really works.

  3. All of these versions are terrific, and how fun to be teaching a class. Again, if I didn't live so far away...I'm sure all of the students will enJOY your class!

    1. Thank Kathy! We'll see. The trick is figuring out how to reach the students. Maybe if we build it...they will come. Even a few at a time would work.

  4. Oh, me too, I’d be signing up for the class, too. Your cards look lovely on their rustic table.
