"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

250

Happy 250th birthday to our country....it needs us more now than ever!

Birthday Wish

may we find courage
to seek joy while we resist
and hold onto hope

I chuckled this morning as I got ready to sort this 3rd bag of puzzle pieces. When I put this 1000 piece Marvelous Minerals puzzle away last time I divided into 4 bags of approximately 250 pieces each. Maybe I did it for Margie (my mother-in-law)....but I'm totally taking advantage of it....250 manageable pieces at a time. And I'm falling in love again with these hand drawn minerals by artist Abigale Kramer....an artist I admire.

  1. After a wildly and mostly wonderfully disordered day, thoughts of those 4 bags of 250 pieces each are quietly and completely calming. Thanks, MaryAnn!

    Terrific holiday haiku!

    1. I'm smiling at the description of your "wonderfully disordered day!" Making memories....that's what you're doing.

This bag of the next 250 puzzle pieces was very calming for me too.

Thanks for inspiring me to write a haiku...or two!

  2. This morning I started to reach for my red top and knit Stars and Stripes vest. I love dressing for the holiday. It didn’t feel right today. I ended up with black blouse, cardigan and pants. I thanked my country and said a prayer for her. I found my joy in a rare win for my baseball team.

    1. Oh....I so understand this....it feels like MAGA has stolen the flag. But I do think it belongs to all of us and we need to take it back. I had a conversation with my neighbor Patty about this. She and her husband wondered if they should display their flag....and they decided they should. It was the right choice. Maybe you can wear your red top and vest today! Or some random day next week and make that a holiday!

So glad you found joy in the baseball win. Happy 5th of July Louise!

    2. I’ll choose a day later this week to do just that and also to put up the new flag (I replace it annually) I bought last month but haven’t flown yet. You are right. You are right. We need to reclaim it as ours! Thank you.
