Sam turned 36 today....and that's cause for celebration.
He's spent the day with Kelly and friends today...a much needed break after a busy moving week. We will celebrate with him later in the week.
My grandmother's devotion calendar is making the rounds with my sisters and it's been sitting on my puzzle table since I got it from LaVonn. Grandma made a note about Sam's birth back in 1989.
I thought the quote was appropriate for the day. Sam has had some difficult patches in his life and at times not very hopeful about the future. But he is optimistic now....and finding many more flowers than weeds.
My art buddy Eliza and her mom Barbara were here for a visit....and that's another cause for celebration. Eliza is on her way to a week at a summer camp here in Maine...and she and her mom had time to stop for lunch...and a little art play.

Eliza had grown several inches from when she was here about a year ago...and is an amazing 9 year old.
We had just enough time to do some sun printing...and Eliza got the hang of it pretty quickly. She used a combination of stencils and pressed plants.
We were so busy...I didn't take a lot of photos.

Celebrate, celebrate, dance to the music! Happy birthday, Sam! Love the Grandma Bessie annotation of Sam's birth. And, wow, Eliza, look at those captivating sun prints. Each one pulls me in for its own uniqueness but, as is the case for you, Eliza, my favorite is that muted little garden. So much to celebrate!
ReplyDeleteThanks for celebrating with me Dotty! It was a good day! Both Eliza and I loved that muted garden image...but that is the chemical reaction after coming out of the sun. It had to be washed away revealing the indigo blue...the only choice with sun printing. The result is there on the counter and I think Eliza might color it in.
Deletethx for explaining that I was admiring the chemical reaction after the print had come out of the sun and that it had to be washed away to reveal the indigo blue. I wasn't thinking about steps in the process and probably assumed incorrectly that somehow this print was made on other than white paper : )
DeleteIt's such an interesting process! Everything about it is a surprise.
DeleteHappy birthday to your adorable baseball player. I'm pretty sure he still looks like that to you- at least some of the time. Eliza is definitely growing up! She is quite the artist- but she also has a talented teacher. Happy Monday!

Thanks Kathy! Yes...I sometimes still see Sam as this little sweet blond baseball player. He is a great source of joy in my life. As is Eliza. Our time together is few and far between, but we pick up right where we left off each time.
