I took the walking route that would let me peek down to the end of dead end street where Bessie lives....I've been keeping an eye on her. I could see that she was turning yellow...so I headed down for a visit.
Bessie was beautiful....and her yellowing needles were still as soft as ever.
Some of the ends of her branches have been trimmed....and there was new growth that was still young and green.
But it won't be long before she's bare for the winter.
I'm fascinated with seasonal changes in this unusual deciduous pine tree.
Mother Nature understands joy.

The birch/pine/moon piece is stunning, with its textile orientation, its very textural elements, its variety and contrast of color, detail, softness, sharp edges, bright moon, and muted bark, and its balanced asymmetries in composition. Just SOOO yummy. Brava!!!

ReplyDeleteI love that piece too. The tree is actually torn paper...and the background is a recycled sparkly scarf. It's one of my favorites....and was a gift for a friend.

ReplyDeleteThank you! The vase is actually a photo of an old bottle I printed on fabric then fused on. I blogged about the whole process if you're interested. It's was the December project for a year long Folt Bolt color scheme series. All the projects are listed under the tag "Folt Bolt." They were all fabric collages with plants and vessels.

ReplyDeleteI’m busy learning to be an Apple - switching from android and very grateful that I’m still able to learn. iOS 26 is giving me dreams of what I might conjure up with Freeform on my current iPad and desiring to pick up some latent photography skills with my new iPhone and adding fall detection on my new watch.

I got to see so many tamarack trees as I rode through the back roads to Bar Harbor. They’re strikingly pretty. And to think, I used to wonder about all the seemingly dead trees scattered here and there. How happy I was to learn they weren’t dead at all. My brother and sister-in-law have a few on their land.
