Evening watercolor doodle.
Morning addition of fused fabric scraps.
I painted the companion page this past summer...
and some fabric scrap dots tumbled across to the companion page.
Makes for a cheery watercolor doodle spread in my journal....
but I felt like it needed something.
So for better or worse I loosely outline the leaves and dots.
Playing around and experimenting with ideas is good for the soul.

MaryAnn, I never tire of process stories and I so appreciate your for-better-or-worse spirit of experimenting and playing around. Each interation of what began as an evening doodle has a captivating quality—simplicity to mixing watercolor with fused fabric to meditative penwork. Good for your soul, good for mine also!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dotty! It's the process that gets me excited. I'm not always thrilled with the results...but I love it when one thing leads to another.
DeleteThese are wonderful, MaryAnn. I'd like to do some experimentation like this in my art journal. I think creative play is good for the soul - I just need to loosen up! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy! I've added fabric to many of the watercolors in this journal. I love the art journal you just started and am looking forward to seeing more entries on Instagram.
DeleteI love the outlining- and I always hesitate to do it too. I feel like it will ruin the design but I’m never disappointed. But still I hesitate 😁…
ReplyDeleteThanks for the vote of confidence! I'm always hesitant too....but most of the time it works! Glad I'm in good company!
