Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.
Today was just packed with outings and family....more on that in the quiet of tomorrow.
This morning before all the festivities I taught Langston how to hand stitch....so he could repair the hem on his pants. I loved every minute.I could have done it for him...but teach him how to hem and he can hem for a lifetime.
You can read about another time I gave Langston sewing lesson in this post: https://joyfulputtering.blogspot.com/2022/11/quick-study.html

Langston, has your Aunt MaryAnn also taught you how to haw? Then you'll be all set to hem and haw when the occasion calls for it, hahaha! Excellent that the hemming lesson is now under your belt (or the bottom of your pant legs!). Kudos to you and MaryAnn!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the humorous take on all of this Dotty! I had a blast with Langston! No hemming and hawing with us!
DeleteI do love seeing a man sewing and it really is a lesson for a lifetime! I also enjoyed the link to Langston's previous sewing lesson which had some wonderful results. It's so nice that your nephew was with you for Thanksgiving! We spent today in Kennebunk with family, including our two nephews and it is so nice to see young men becoming independent and creating lives of their own! ......Judy
ReplyDeleteLangston is turning in to lifelong maker and creator. I love seeing that too! How nice that you got time with your nephews too! Tis the season!
DeleteWhat an outstanding, heartwarming picture, Maryann. How many have the rare privilege of seeing a handsome young man looking for all the world as if he’s enjoying himself while learning a new skill? You are a treasure and natural teacher. So glad you had extra family for the holiday.
ReplyDeleteThanks Louise! The whole experience was outstanding and heartwarming!
