"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Romanticizing Winter

We had a delightful visit with Ann and Nariman yesterday, two dear friends from Lexington. So today feels like the actual day after the holiday celebrations and visits. What a wonderful stretch of joy it was!

I've started to put some of the decorations away....the Santas and more Christmasy things....but I'm still celebrating winter. I read somewhere this morning that we should romantice winter once Christmas was over. I like that the sound of that!

I'm going to keep the lights and the wintery things for a while and I've pulled out my snowmen. I always enjoy the little minis on my window sill.

Kelly gave me an tiny 50 piece puzzle featuring Kandinsky Circles. It's adorable.

It was the perfect little puzzle moment within a puzzle over Christmas.

I just finished this Twinkle Town puzzle for the 2nd or 3rd time....
and my little snow scene looks right at home on the table.

I'll stick the romanticizing winter theme...and re-do this Merry Moonlight Skaters next. All is calm and bright with a puzzle on my table.

  1. Your post touched me in several ways, MaryAnn. First, like you, I often use this week to put away the Christmas-y decorations but leave out the winter ones, including several snowmen. Second, having painted some concentric circle studies à la Kandinsky in 2025, I was charmed by your puzzle. And, finally, seeing your puzzles reminds me that I want to pick one up from the Senior Center tomorrow to make with visiting guests. All grand!

  2. Oh my goodness, just the name Twinkle Town is delightful, never mind the lovely puzzle's image! And now I feel justified in leaving my little snowmen out as I think of romanticizing winter! Your blog is such heartwarming place to visit each day, MaryAnn, and I'm very glad I found you on this vast internet. A bit of serendipity for sure!

    1. Yes...Twinkle Town is a great name. Years ago I started saving my snowmen until after Christmas. Somehow this seems to honor them...giving them the month of January to shine on their own.

I'm so glad you found me too...which led me to you...and your beautiful hand work I get so see on Instagram.
