It's was chilly and rainy today....a perfect day to turn my kitchen into a cyanotype studio using my UV lamp. I'm going to make some cards for the Winslow Farm garden store again this year using all my part of the proceeds to buy things for Maine Needs.
This time I dotted vinegar here and there before I placed the plants down. I do like the effect. I might do a bit of little accent watercolor....but maybe not.
This one had some large vinegar blobs...I'm quite fond of it.
My UV lamp is pretty handy when the sun isn't available. And this is one of those times a glass top stove comes in handy as an extra surface. I took over the WHOLE kitchen all morning.
I stitched up four cards this afternoon. There is something about the simplicity of just the blue and white that makes me happy. But I do want to paint a few.
MaryAnn, these are stunning! The depth of field and the varied degrees of contrast are compelling and contribute to the organic feel of the composition. Your inclusion of the vinegar 'blobs' adds yet another facet of being outdoors in the natural setting where these botanicals originated; you've created a feeling of dappled light. BRAVA! You are a top notch chef in your kitchen studio!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dotty! I had a good time getting back into the cyanotype thing. I felt like I've been floundering a bit...but there is immediate gratification with making these. I love the process!
DeleteI love that you took over the whole kitchen! How much do your beautiful cards sell for at the Winslow Farm garden? I’ll be curious to see what your painting adds to the blue & white party :-)
ReplyDeleteLast year we sold the cards for $6. I'm going to dabble with the paint today. I do want to figure out ways to make some of these different from last year.
DeleteThese are beautiful. Seeing these has inspired me to get my stuff out and make some more cards. I like the vinegar effect.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes....get your stuff out. Mostly I just dipped my finger in the vinegar and made the dots! I want to try some in a spritz bottle.
DeleteI have to say these are stunning, MaryAnn, and I see that Dotty said the same thing! I love the blue and white and think they'll make beautiful cards, sold for a great cause. You've outdone yourself with these!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy! I'll never grow tired of making these!
DeleteHurrah! These are spectacular! You know how I love cyanotype!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin! I do know you love cyanotype!
