"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Tis The Season

My sister Marilyn gave me a dandelion lego kit for my birthday because it reminded her of all dandelions on the farm growing up. They grew big in Wisconsin!

Tis the season for dandelions here in Portland.

I'm not quite sure I get the brown stem on the left unless it represents the wabi-sabi end when the seeds have all blown away.

I was hoping to help Patti repot some arborvitae in the front of her condo this afternoon.

We were about to pull one out of the pot....when a house finch flew out. After a closer look we found a nest with a couple of eggs. We got one of the three repotted....but the other two will have to wait until hatching and lift off.

Tis the season for nesting....and practicing patience.

Tis the season for hummingbirds too! I put the feeder up yesterday and the first one stopped by today during happy hour!

  1. MaryAnn, the dandelion Lego kit as a bday gift for you makes me smile, and LOL that dandelions grew plentifully and were big in size on the farm where you grew up! Great gift channeling, Marilyn.

SOOO sweet that you and Patti discovered finch nests and eggs when you went to repot arborvitae this afternoon. Now that you've spotted them you'll have the fun of watching progress closely. HOORAY for new life every which way we look!

  2. That dandelion lego kit is a riot - how appropriate for your background! We had a robin sitting on her nest in a bush outside our dining room window when we left, but no sign of her now and the nest is empty. I hope all went well for her and her chicks! I'll have to go out this afternoon and see if there are any shells on the ground. It is a beautiful day here as I hope it is in Portland!

    1. It's beautiful here too....just got back from the garden store. We actually have some nights above 50 coming...so it's time to harden off some plants. I love the lego kit too! I hope the robin babies made it....but eggs are often easy prey for some critters. I hope you find some shells.
