Anything I let go of creates space for something new.
I've had this cover of a Quilting Arts Magazine in my stash for years. I adore the colors and design and I decided it would make a lovely mini joy journal cover for the Free Little Art Library. I actually like the back with the words as much...if not more than the front!
Per usual.....I lined the cover with fused fabric for strength.
And this overlapping tissue paper experiment made for a fun first page.
It's colorful...but also a blank slate for more.
So I'm including a little packet of snippets to get someone started.
When I was going through my snippet bins (I have several) I found this little paper-cut from a calendar page and I loved the little gold accents...which were the letters of the name of the month. It was a good color...and it mirrored the shapes in the tissue page.
Your labels alone in this post bring a smile: joy journal, snippets. Happy words of a high order! And this journal is a happy journal of a high order. Love the colors, love the words on the back cover, love the paper-cut from a calendar page. Sure would love to be a fly on the wall of the Little Art Library when some sweet gem of a child (or adult) discovers this gem of a joy journal.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dotty! I'd love to see where this lands too....but it's also fun just imagining it in my mind. I do love making these little gems.
DeleteI can imagine someone being delighted to find this little joy journal in the Little Art Library! The paper cut squares are such a fun addition! What other sorts of things do people leave in this little library? Such a fun idea!
ReplyDeleteThat's the goal....hopefully this will delight someone. There are all kinds of things in the art library and they can't be bigger than 4 x 6. There are lots of small art pieces either watercolor or acrylic, collage pieces, painted stones and shells and a whole lot of kid art. Last year I added a few cyanotype prints and a whole lot of cyanotype bookmarks. I really enjoy participating.
DeleteI do wish there were some Little Free Art Libraries in this area ... I think your mini joy journal "kit" is fabulous!! Can't imagine how delighted the finder will be.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie! That's my goal....and it brings me a lot of joy just thinking about it!
