"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Restraint?

It was one of those absolutely perfect spring days! I spent all morning outdoors walking and puttering in the gardens and tending the birds and feeders. Then I puttered indoors and even checked a few pesky chores things off the list. I love days like this!

Can I go the whole month sharing some sort of rainbow spectrum I encounter or create each day? I think I can! Especially in June.

There are times I should show some restraint with the gold splatters. But then again....maybe not! Sometimes they work out better than other times. This was a failed background  texture experiment....so I made up for it in splatters.

And it looks better trimmed up and mounted. It was too big for one of my cards...so I mounted it on a 5 x 7 piece of cardstock. I wonder if it can be mailed as a post card?

Along with my puzzle gang.....I'm celebrating this fabulous explosion of rainbow color. This Asian Oil-paper Umbrella puzzle was engaging from start to finish. And now I get to start another one!

  1. Without any back story, no way to see anything 'failed' in your card, MaryAnn. Splatters + trimmed + mounted on card stock with stitching = win win win.

You can send this size card through the USPS as 'naked mail' (i.e. no envelope) as long as the paper is rigid and thick enough to withstand automated sorting. However, it exceeds standard postcard dimensions, so it'll require a regular first class stamp rather than the lower-priced postcard-rate stamp.

    LOVE the jigsaw puzzle!

    1. Thanks Dotty. The only failed part was that the attempted background texture didn't come through at all. I like where it ended.

Thanks for the info on the post card mailing. I may give it a try.

  2. What a lovely puzzle! For me, the more color in a puzzle, the more fun it is. I love your rainbows everyday for June idea.

  3. I missed a couple of posts, MaryAnn, but looking back, I just love what you've done with your cyanotypes! The ones you made for the plant shop look great there and I love the writing included in your prints. And gold spatters just enhance everything! Last of all, the parasol puzzle with your little gang looking on was just the joyful color boost I needed!

    1. Thank you Ellen! The only thing that was wrong was that it was a failed attempt at a background texture....so I added the texture with gold splatters. I think the print of the meadow rue turned out great!
