"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Depth and Beauty

Have gratitude for even the smallest encounters that add depth and beauty to life. Morgan Harper Nichols

It was windy and cool this morning so I needed earmuffs and gloves for our walk along one of the trails in the nearby North Deering Park. But it was lovely.

The ferns were unfurling...and the leafy spring greens were abundant in the trees. I'm grateful for such a beautiful place right in our own backyard.

This may be one of my favorite spring blooms. There is just something about the dainty details of a foam flower bloom that make me smile.

It's blooming in my little rock wall garden...and having a few stems on my window sill will bring depth and beauty to my day.

I brought home a watercolor journal from Lynn's stash with the offer to alter it with her own art. Lynn is a master at creating beautiful art and travel journals...but this one might give her a different sort of inspiration and challenge.

The book is a long landscape size and the pages are heavy watercolor paper...so will hold up to anything Lynn wants to throw at it. I'm layering and wrapping edges with Lynn's gelli prints like I have in the other altered journals....

...but I am also stitching in some of Lynn's watercolor cutouts. Just small encounters that will be fun to layer and create depth and beauty for the spread and the page underneath.

So much potential with these!

This is one of my favorites....a lovely leaf cutout on highly
textured paper layered over a beautiful watercolor.

I'm guessing Lynn used saran wrap on this piece.
Lots of depth and beauty here!
