The world can't heal without joy.
I read this in the email that came with the Flying Edna story of the day post yesterday...and it has lingered in my mind ever since.Every single day I read about dozens of things that are happening in our country that are so hateful and downright terrifying. But every single day I also find dozens of tiny things that bring me joy...like this little rainbow flag that was handed to me at the Pride Parade and greets us and our visitors at our front door.
The world can't heal without joy.
Speaking of joy....this video came across my Instagram feed and absolutely stole my heart.
I am SOOO doing this the next time I need party balloons for a celebration! I can already see the Pink Panther with a balloon in his hand!
The reaction of this little two year old is worth a watch...and you can find the video here:

This is the power of joy!
I'm guessing the parent/parents had as much fun with this as this sweet little boy.

I love this post, MaryAnn. I saw this video earlier today and really enjoyed it. Also, that little pride flag says it all! So many bits of joy sprinkled through our days, if only we look for them. Judy
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy. And yes...all we have to do is look for them. We look we must during these trying times.
DeleteWhat a sweet sweet video! I love the measured quiet absorption in that little two-year-old body as it slowly takes in the wonder and delight. Your little rainbow flag offers up a similar quiet stance. My own small quiet joy this morning: heading out at my usual predawn time to walk in rain that was gentle enough that fully-leafed-out trees became my umbrella and offered up a space where I could walk without getting wet.
ReplyDeleteYes! I love the long pause too as he took it all in. We can learn from that!
DeleteI love that the leaves provided coverage for you on your walk. Mother Nature is often a giver of quiet joy. We just have to pay attention and be appreciative.
How can you NOT smile if you watch that video?!?!!!!!
ReplyDeleteRight??? It's just too precious.
DeleteAgain, that was me, Kathy:)
ReplyDeleteI had that feeling it was.....
DeleteThat little guy is going to have many precious moments and wonderful moments in his life with parents that thoughtful. Makes me wish I could use Instagram but they don’t like me.
ReplyDeleteYes...I think he's a lucky little guy. I thought the parents were so creative and clever.
DeleteI have a love hate relationship with all social media....but I can't imagine how Instagram doesn't like you. Sorry about that.
