"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Winner

I put 13 names in a hat last evening for my little swirl piece. Paul did the drawing....and the winner is Lori, from Fort Wayne, Indiana.

I was thrilled that so many of you expressed interest. Thank you! I hope to be giving more things away in the future....it just feels good.

When I posted about how I love watching cone flowers unfurl....I mentioned that I have another favorite unfurler. Black eyed Susans! I've been seeing them in several gardens on my walks now...and love them in all their various stages of unfurling.

There is such whimsy as the skinny petals open...and it always looks as if they're dancing.

  1. This post was particularly joyfully well-timed: I gave some very focused attention to black-eyed Susans, the results of which you'll see sometime in August at my blog : ) The unfurling dance moves are SO appealing, aren't they?

    Congrats to Lori!

We are back to having an empty nest again after 5 days of having it full, having barely gotten back on track from when it emptied on July 6. Having your blog back in my evening routine is a pleasure as I take baby-steps to re-enter life as "usual" here.

    1. Is there an black-eye Susan inspired art piece coming up? I'll be looking for it. And I couldn't agree more about the unfurling dance! I look forward to the show every year.

I'm sure your family time was wonderful. What a gift. But I know we also both love the sweetness of our routines. I love "life as usual." But I am just now heading into my season of house guests and I'm looking forward to my life as unusual. The first ones arrive tomorrow.

  3. The photo on the right … I quickly thought of an animal, a beaver maybe, swimming on its back. Sweet photo. 😀

  4. The package arrived today, and I L💝VE the swirl!!! Thank you so very much for entrusting it to my care - it will definitely bring joy to me as part of my little pocket office/creative space - another thanks to Paul for drawing out my name👍🏻☺️ And just so you know, I am also a box & packaging recycler/reuser, so even that part will bring joy too once I use the box to send a gift to someone 🥰

    1. You are so welcome Lori! And thinking of it hanging in your little creative space makes me smile. It's icing on the cake that you will reuse that box...it's a GOOD one! Once I settle back into my routine...I'm going to be looking for more opportunities to give things away....it brings me a lot of joy.
