"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Time to Pause

I kind of hit a wall today. Not in bad way...but in it's time to take a breath and pause kind of way.

It's been a busy summer stretch...and I'm getting ready for another very special visitor. Other than a little advance food prep...I took a break today. I enjoyed a morning walk and swim...an afternoon nap...and quiet late afternoon/evening time on the patio watching the birds and visiting with Paul.

Paul is heading to Colorado very early Wednesday morning for a week in the mountains with his seminary buddies...and my friend Becky is coming late Tuesday evening. She and Paul won't even see each other and Becky will be here the whole time he is gone.

Becky and I do well together...so it will a relaxing and fun visit. The last time she was here was 2018...this same time of year while Paul was way. The irony is that she likes Paul...but this time the timing wasn't quite right for them to overlap.

We've known each other since we were five.

  1. Friends from age 5?!? Nothing better! Endless chats, memories, new discoveries. Enjoy your time together. Thanks also for the "Chompsaw" info. I have never heard of this, but boy does this look like fun. Oh but I just can't have another rabbit hole... :)

  4. Love the photos of you and Becky over the years; it's such a gift to have that longevity and closeness of friendship.

I read your post each day as part of my evening routine, but it appears that I did NOT on Monday and I can't figure out why!
