It's heartbreaking that there was another shooting in Minneapolis. We can all see what happened with our own eyes. God help us!
I went to the post office early this morning to mail a package and it was cold with a wind chill below zero. I was the only customer and the postal agent greeted me as I turned the corner with Welcome! Thank you for coming! I had a few things to talk to him about....so I was glad there was no one behind me. We had a delightful conversation and thanked him for for his interest and enthusiasm.
I had a few more stops...and there was a bounce in my step.
When I posted about Roseanne's journals I made a point saying I used every single scrap in her chunky joy journal. But that wasn't actually the case. Roseanne asked me if I would make a label for the inside cover of the altered art journal with my name. Of course I would....and I chuckled and said I would search the trash for a few scraps to stitch together.
I did go through the trash....I swept the floor...and sifted I through the pile of cut-offs next to my paper slicer. Score!
Local leaders celebrated and promoted the power of community....neighbors helping neighbors...and the power of love. We are both glad we went.

I LOVE little scraps and make use of them often; accordingly, I smiled all the way through this post where you clearly found abundant joy and created abundant beauty. SO much punch from such petite pieces of paper! Roseanne's altered art journal will be all the more magnificent.
ReplyDeleteYour conversation with the postal employee also resonated with me. Like you, I find that gifts of that sort are especially cherished as we face so many dire circumstances in our country.
Thank you for reporting on the gathering in Lewiston. We had two other friends also in attendance there. Great that an indoor space was corralled which allowed for focus to be on content instead of cold, love and community instead of violence and lawlessness. The local weekly rally in which we participate had 107 intrepid folks taking on the frigid temperatures, today and we were fueled by the warm honking and thumbs-up of a the steady mid-day stream of cars driving past.
Thanks Dotty! I smiled all the way making it too!
DeleteThe postal clerk's attitude was such a gift. Just what I needed.
Thank you for attending your weekly rallys. This will stop when enough of us say NO!
I know how an unexpected conversation can put a bounce in your step, as with that postal worker. A moment of connectedness! And the way you put those scraps together is brilliant. Joy is in the small stuff - even scraps. I love that!! I also love to read Dotty's comments on your posts. She expresses her thoughts so beautifully. And, as for the gathering in Lewiston - seeing everyone together is just so encouraging. There is so much to be deeply concerned about these days and I'm grateful for those of you who gather to protest.
ReplyDeleteYou never cease to amaze me, MaryAnn. Those snippets are just so happy and bright. I think, besides me, that many people are touched by the joy you bring to these gorgeous projects. ♥️
ReplyDeleteThanks Roseanne. Happy and bright are what I'm going for!
