Listen to the birds instead of breaking news and the world feels more hopeful.
This is a version of something I saw on line....and I tried it out all day long. In addition to listening to the birds....
I finished up two more joy journals...and the world felt more hopeful.
I walked in the sunshine...and the world felt more hopeful.I tended to a few household and Condo Association chores...and the world felt more hopeful.
And I celebrated the patchwork quilts by the women of Gee's Bend....and the world felt more hopeful.

I get a funny text from my daughter, call her immediately, we laugh our brains out together … and the world is more hopeful. I talk on the phone with a longtime friend reminiscing with delight about chores we did as children … and the world is more hopeful. I tidy up my desk in my study … and the world is more hopeful. I am able to put together just exactly what I want to be ready to celebrate my hubby's upcoming bday … and the world is more hopeful.
ReplyDeleteDid you ever play jump rope as a kid, MaryAnn, with a turner at each end of the rope, and a line of kids passing from one side of the rope to the other, jumping at just the right time to pass through? My friends and I used to play a jump-rope game called "on time." If playing one-on-time, each player had to jump once to pass through, and the next player had to be ready on the very next turn of the rope to do her jump. If playing four-on-time, each player did four jumps and the next player came in ON TIME to do her four jumps. Your post here, felt like that game. You got the rope turning and the beat established, jumped in with your four hopefulnesses, and now I've jumped in on time with four of my own!
As always, thanks for keeping joy and hope moving through our lives!
What a fabulous list of things making the world feel more hopeful. Thanks for sharing your list with all of us Dotty!
DeleteYES I played jump rope as a kid....so I'm smiling at the comparison. Thanks for jumping rope with me!!! "On Time" is working here too....one comment prompted others to jump in too! Thanks for getting the game started Dotty!
Spend the day with your three-year-old grandson on his birthday and the world feels more hopeful.
ReplyDeletePerfect way for the world to feel more hopeful Ann! Lucky you!
DeleteNow that is something I am going to try tomorrow - a great way to view things instead of mulling over all the negative news!! Thanks, MaryAnne!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy.....it may be my mantra for a while.
DeleteSpend several days with son, daughter-in-law and grandkids and feel more hopeful.
ReplyDeleteOh....how perfect! Time with family always makes the world feel more hopeful! Thanks Kristin! Your print...by the way...is in the mail!
DeleteThat’s great, I’m so looking forward to seeing it!
DeleteI spent the weekend with my boys and nothing gives me more joy than time with them. A good portion of the day was spent outside in 60 degrees but at a ski resort- watching them snowboard. I could have sat there for days on end! Beautiful blue skies and a comfy chair on the deck with my camera ready to try to catch them as they were coming down the hills. Lots of laughter and good food and conversation later, and the weekend was done. Restores my soul. So this morning I am back to my routine- checking on your blog to see what you've created now. Honestly though, I come for the pictures of toys on your puzzle table :)

Thank you for this fabulous "more hopeful" image Kathy. I can just picture you sitting there giddy with delight as your boys came down the hill. I can think of several times I could have done something like that for days watching my own boys.
DeleteAnd I can't tell you how much joy I get from you getting so much joy out of my puzzle gang. THAT....makes the world feel more hopeful.
