Today was Pride Day in Portland...and Paul and I attended the Pride Parade and some of the festivities at Deering Oaks Park. It was all about LOVE and JOY!
We carried our pride flag...and were proud to be celebrating with such a diverse group of people. The turnout was quite impressive!
I found the perfect souvenir. I have actually wanted a small parasol for times when I want some protection from the sun...and we found the perfect parasol at the festival.

It was so heartwarming so see all the businesses...organizations....churches....civic groups...and families that marched in support of love and acceptance.
LOVE IS LOUDER! Love Your Neighbor OUT LOUD!
I actually started a pride project this morning I hope to finish this evening and share tomorrow.
But I remember making these pride cards a few years ago....a concept I want to revisit. And here are a few other of my favorite PRIDE photos I found on the blog.
Patty's rainbow Pride Pigs....
and Sesame Street Pride!
And I found this image from a Portland Post a few years ago. I love my city for proudly embracing Pride! Happy Pride Month!

MaryAnn, thank you for this parade of pride pix moving along under the protection of a pride parasol! We participated midday in the weekly Stand Up for Democracy demonstration that takes place in neighboring Ipswich. We were grateful for bright sunshiny summer weather after altogether too many Saturdays of chilly rain and gloomy skies but, in ironic watch-what-you-wish-for fashion, we sure could have used a pride parasol such as yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dotty! It was a wonderful event and so full of joy. Good for you for continuing to stand up for Democracy....it's important work! It was wonderful that it was finally a bright beautiful sunny Saturday...but protection from the sun was important. I love my new parasol! I'll keep it in the car so I'll have it when I need it.
DeleteSuch a wonderful display of love and support! Your parasol seems like a perfect souvenir! So glad you were able to participate! Judy
ReplyDeleteIt was all that and more! I'm going to get a lot of use our of the parasol and will be proud to have the rainbow on display!
