"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Strange and Marvelous

what a strange & marbelous world this is, when you stop needing to wrap yourself only in the things you already know....
Flying Edna

The colors in Story of the Day from Flying Edna reminded me of the blueberry fields that were dotted along the highway as we headed downeast a couple weeks ago.

Strange and ohhhh so marvelous...and totally worth revisiting today.

Paul and I saw the blueberry fields on the way to Patsy and Brian's....and ironically enough look what they brought me today!

I have envisioned buoys hanging from these trees in the corner of our yard for years....and all I had to do was say that outloud when we were visiting. Patsy and Brian picked these up along their shoreline and gifted them to me. I got them hung today....and I couldn't love these found objects more!

They go so well with the fall colors...and I often tuck in red begonias here in this garden in the summer...so the colors are perfect!

I can see them from the front/side of the condo.

And we have a great view from the patio...and we enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels trying to figure out what they were. Simple...strange and marvelous!

  1. Holy moly! Totally strange and marvelous, MaryAnn! I saw the Flying Edna art this morning in my inbox so my eyes popped wide open just now when I opened your post and saw your photo paired with it. Fabulous!

And lucky you to have those three lobster buoys as part of your outsider art, so to speak! Do you think the hummingbirds will have a few moments of befuddlement at the lack of nectar upon their return in the warm months next year??!

    1. Thanks Dotty, I thought the pairing was spot on!

And I love adding a little unexpected art here and there to the outdoors! I hadn't thought about the red confusing the hummingbirds...but it certainly could!
