"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Upside Down

Here are a few Sunday nuggets of joy that I am compelled to share.

The traffic cone safety guy has joined the gang on my puzzle table. He and Tiny Jesus will help keep an eye on things perched on this Halloween shadow box my sister Angie made.

The shadow box features some wonderful Halloween memories with the boys....I love pulling it out this time of year.

Patsy and Brian loaned me a quirky Liberty wooden puzzle....and I just finished it today.

It's Damian Elwes version of artist Keith Haring's Studio. Haring was not only an artist but also an activist...using his art to raise awareness of important issues. His happy go lucky characters are very recognizable.
I found it challenging and absolutely engaging. Sitting at my puzzle table...continues to be one of the most calming things I do in this very troubled world.

I saved the last few pieces until late this afternoon...I didn't want this one to end.

Just like Haring's art....dozens of cute little dancing characters and hearts were a feature of this quirky puzzle....and most of the characters had a heart cutout. It really is all about love.

It's been fun to see where these little guys land....often times it's in unexpected places.

I placed this little heart within a heart just today...and it landed upside down....just the way my heart feels these days. Time to pick another one from my closet.

  1. Oh my gosh, MaryAnn, traffic cone safety guy looks TOTALLY at home. You are so generous and adept in welcoming immigrants and offering them a place of belonging. Life is a puzzle these days, and what a gift that you've had this very solvable concrete jigsaw puzzle to work on with its appealing upbeat engaging pieces; I can see why you didn't want to finish it ❤️

    1. Thanks Dotty. We have to do what we can to lighten things up during these very dark and disturbing times.

  2. Looks like the traffic cone is in exactly the right place. I'm hoping you are not affected by the rain storm on east coast???

    1. I thought so!

We will get some rain today....but not enough. So bring it on...as long as there aren't damaging winds along with it.

  3. I love how you surround your puzzle table with fun characters, MaryAnn. It seems like a designated happy zone! And that puzzle is a doozy! (is that a word?) So full of heart! Hope your next one is as fascinating for you! ❤️ Judy

    1. Thank Judy! I do love my characters and a designated happy zone is exactly what this is. Everyone needs one. And yes the puzzle was a doozy. I'm declaring that it IS in fact a word.
