"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Butterfly Landings

When Paul and I arrived in Monument Square in Portland this morning there were about 50 people at the Ice Protest. By the end of the rally we think there might have been three hundred.

We are always energized by the friendliness of the people...the signs...and the honking horns. Small actions hoping to affect big change!

Make America kind again! STOP ICE!

"On Wednesday, January 7th we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles, they had guns." Becca Good, Renee Good's wife

My Playful Pages journal was been missing since before well before Christmas. I knew it had to be tucked in one of my many piles and I have been slowly sifting through them. Just yesterday...I finally found it and I'm so glad to have it back.

I also uncovered a couple butterfly cutouts....and the timing couldn't have been more perfect. It's the personalized snippets and details.....and now the butterflies that are going to pull the little journal together and make it ME.

The Butterfly Effect!
Small changes....big impact.

Much more needs to be done to this middle page spread...
but another butterfly landed here.

  1. We rallied in Ipswich today, as we do every week—numbers were up from about 125 last week to over 400 today with a wonderful abundance of honking, including a V of geese overhead!

The confluence of your finding your MIA Playful Pages journal AND a couple of butterfly cutouts warms my heart, as do the VERY appealing layers, textures, colors, and juxtapositions of collage in your middle page spread. Butterflies of beauty landing everywhere!

    1. Oh Dotty...good for you two to show up every Saturday. It feels good to show up. Thank you!

I appreciate you cheering me on with this little journal. It will be something I turn to for micro art and expression for a long time. There is something very satisfying about the format.

  2. The butterflies look perfect on your journal pages and are so symbolic, now that you have been raising awareness of the butterfly effect. I wish I could create something like this - I love all the papers, colors and added touches. Dotty expressed it beautifully - the layers, textures, colors and juxtapositions of collage. And thank you for protesting today. I did not get out, but appreciate and honor the voices of all those who did. Change is so badly needed.

    1. I thought so too Judy. You CAN create something like this...and I would be happy to help you! Like I just said to Dotty, there is something about the offset and layered format that is so appealing to me.

      Change is desperately needed!

  3. Thank you for protesting. I couldn’t this time, but will be out the next time as I have for all the No Kings protests. And thank you for your positive and beautiful art. If only positivity and beauty were the goal of all in our citizens!
