"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Infusion of Festive

The Peace of Wild Things
Wendell Berry

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children's lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

Last night Paul, Sam, Kelly and I went to the Gardens Aglow at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine....it was just a delight.

It was fun to spend time with Kelly and Sam....and the acres of color and lights were a welcome infusion of festive into the holiday season.

The larger than life trolls were more interesting than I expected.

The tall tree trunks wrapped in lights and
trees that were uplit with color were my favorites.

  1. Nothing like hanging out with larger-than-life trolls on a cold evening in December!
