"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Anxiety

Tracie sent me this quote this afternoon:

"You are a piece of the puzzle in someone else's life. You may never know where you fit, but others will fill the holes in their lives with pieces of you."

I think we will be filling holes for each other more than ever in these days ahead.

And speaking of puzzle pieces........I put the last one in today.

This fabulous tall puzzle is done! And it's just beautiful! Thank you Marita!

Some parts were tedious....but I loved every minute of this one!
Janice sent me a helpful article to help deal with the anxiety I am feeling about the change that is coming in and to our country. It was written by Dan Harris and is titled How would the Buddha Handle Trump's Inauguration. Some of the strategies include:

Calm your mind.

Cultivate compassion.

Get out of your head by giving back.

The line that is resonating with me the most is action absorbs anxiety. I better get busy!

  1. MaryAnn, the string of lights running across the photo of your completed puzzle is evocative of the slime mold article you shared yesterday—perfect touch!

Sending hugs re your anxiety; thanks for sharing so vulnerably. In an email with subject heading "the body of our country," this today from poet Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer touched me profoundly:

    In a Dangerous Time

    I think of the bones
    of the unsung rib cage,
    the way they protect
    the heart. How bone,
too, is living, how it constantly
    renews and remakes itself.
I think of how ribs engage
    with other ribs
    to expand, to contract,
    and because they do
    their solid work,
they allow the heart to float.
This is what I want to do:
to be a rib in this body
    of our country,
to make a safe space for love.
    There is so much now
    that needs protection.
I want to be that flexible,
    that committed to what’s vital,
    that unwilling to yield.

    ❤️
