I've spent a good chunk of the last couple of days on Juliann's joy journal. Just a few finishing touches...then a little photo session and I can get it in the mail. Oh....how I love making these joy journals.....they are a labor of love. I can get lost for hours in the details....in a good way.
Since I'll be busy helping host a neighborhood picnic this afternoon/evening....it seems like a good day to talk about this magnificent wooden puzzle I've been working on for a little more than a week. I think I'm about half done. It was gifted to me from Alyson who has a friend who works for the Liberty Puzzle Company. I am not necessarily drawn to these muted scenery puzzles....but they always surprise me with delight. Especially the wooden ones. I actually find myself sitting a little longer each session wanting to find just one more oddly shaped piece.
I sorted the pieces generally by color and texture. The texture of the green on the trees is different than the texture of the greens in the gardens. Then there are all the clusters of flowers and the browns on the house. I started with the sky....which was the easiest.
MaryAnn, getting lost in the details IN A GOOD WAY is always such a gift! Eager to see your photo shoot of Juliann's joy journal, eager to see the Liberty puzzle again once fully completed. In the interim, I'm picturing that as I write you are lost in the details of your neighborhood picnic IN THE HAPPIEST and BEST OF WAYS!
ReplyDeleteGetting lost in the details takes us into a place of peace. So the journal...and the puzzle have kept me grounded and a little distracted from the crazy world right now! The picnic was a big success with perfect weather. I'm lucky to have such good neighbors.
DeleteHi MaryAnn! This looks like a fascinating puzzle. I've seen these wood puzzles with the interestingly shaped pieces and wonder if I should get Bill one for Christmas. As for your tribute to Dolly in your last post, it was beautiful! I always thought she was a down to earth, brilliant woman with a heart of gold, and was so sorry to hear that she has died. All the tributes to her kind heart have been a wonderful distraction from the upsetting things that are going in Washington and all over the country. She has left us with the gift of her selfless example, and how sweet that is.
ReplyDeleteIt is fascinating...and do recommend he try a wooden one. I have enjoyed reading all the tributes to Dolly. Her talent and generosity reached far and wide. I've learned so much more about her.
