"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Manger Sunday

For 151 years Manger Sunday has been held at Hancock Church on the first Sunday in December. Donations of toys, clothes, gifts, and money are collected for City Mission of Boston and distributed to people in need at Christmas time. It's everyone's favorite service.

The first Sunday in December is two weeks from today....and as you well know we are in the middle of a raging pandemic and in person church is not happening.  So Hancock Church held outdoor manger Sunday today....it was filmed....and highlights of it will be part of the streamed service on December 6th.

People parked at a neighbor church and processed down the sidewalk with their gifts masked and in family units safely distanced from others.  I mostly watched from the Lexington Green right across the street....and it was a sight to behold. People also had the option of driving through and dropping off their donations. The organ was playing live from inside and amplified outside and the choir was singing safely distanced across the lawn.  Joy to the World....was the choral message of the day.
