"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Childish Joy

My current puzzle is this little 500 piece Story Time collection of children's books...and it's just a delight. I'm not familiar with all of the books....but many of them are either on our bookshelf or I have read at one point or another. And I was excited to see The Snowy Day in the bottom left corner.

I wasn't familiar with that one until an exchange with my art group.

Brenda chose a page from The Snowy Day as the inspiration for a round of our Anchor Image Exchange. You can see all four posts about this wonderful art exchange here in these posts

Or, you can see just the post with all our interpretations of Brenda's Snowy Day image here in this post:

It might be time for another art exchange sometime soon!
Just today....I connected the Eloise book at the top to the Ferdinand book at the bottom.

I love Ferdinand....a simple story of an unconventional bull who just loves to smell the flowers!
Speaking of children's books....I've been working diligently on my little fussy cutting project for Max where I am repurposing a Richard Scarry book in honor of his 2nd birthday.

It's one of those project that is taking way more time than I anticipated....but also bringing me more childish joy than I could have imagined.

I'm inserting Max all over Busytown...and giggling my way through it! I'll share the whole project in a few weeks.

  1. Funny that you mentioned Ferdinand in your commentary—that was the book cover in the puzzle that most strongly caught my attention. It SOOOOO brings me right back to Grandma and Grandpa Chase's Clover Street home in Middletown CT ❤️.

The book for Max is BEYOND BEYOND, MaryAnn! It will be TREASURED beyond measure.

    1. How fun that Ferdinand took you down memory lane. It certainly was a favorite of mine to read to the boys.

The Max book has been quite a playful journey....It's almost done!

  3. What a sweet puzzle! I love children's books and remember many of these from my daughter's childhood and from years of teaching little ones. The insertion of Max in the book you're making is simply adorable!!
