I've got another story. I know I'm kind of a broken record lately...but this is my life right now. This is my joy.
I didn't have pink polka dotted underwear on...but I did have a little pep in my step and $225 burning in my pocket.

Then I remembered Marden's...a local surplus and salvage store. I was ready to be home and just get back online...but I rallied and decided to make this one last stop.
When I first walked in I thought oh no...I can't do this. It's a big warehouse type store and always seems a bit chaotic. I also had my prescription sunglasses still on...and didn't take the time to go back to the car for my regular glasses. But I got a cart and headed out on my mission looking through my rose colored glasses....and I hit the jackpot!
The prices were great...and the brands familiar. I tried to get something for everyone: girls, boys, men and women. I piled things up by price so I could have a rough estimate of how much I was spending....but I really had no idea. I wish I would have taken a photo of my cart.
I got to the check out and Jeannette was a little surprised at my cart full of underwear...with a few polka dots here and there.
I knew how much I spent...but not how many pairs I got. So the first thing I did when I got home was tally it all up.
These stories just get more and more magical and magnificent, MaryAnn. SO. MUCH. JOY. I love that Jeannette got into the fun with you ❤️

DeleteI revised the post....because there were a few polka dots and certainly some fun patterns and stripes. But no bold dots that I was looking for.

ReplyDeleteHa ha....yes! It's a bit daunting walking in at first. But as I continue this donation of goods...it may have to be my go to place getting the most for my money.

ReplyDeleteYes...that would have been fun to have you along. Both Jeanette and I couldn't believe it when that total came up. It was really a moment...and I'm glad she seemed as ticked as I was.

DeleteI told my husband I was going to send you a donation & he asked if you went to Marden’s . I just assumed you would. It is my absolute favorite place to shop, better than anything. Such fun. Such bargains. Constantly changing. I was a bit disappointed when you showed the box you got online. Amazon is putting all the local shops out of business. Pls try to shop locally.

The fact that it's constantly changing makes it so much better. I wished you had nudged me sooner. We don't know until we know. And now I know. (Are you from Maine?)
DeleteI'm sorry that I disappointed you with my online shopping. At the time, I just wanted to get the most for my money. I checked around several places including the Goodwill store where they actually sell new underwear. The prices were just to high.
Like you, I prefer to buy locally, and will do that going forward for all my donations.
