"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Showing Up

Thank you for all the amazing comments on my Busytown book project. I am grateful for all the positive feedback.

Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.   Brené Brown

It was a lovely almost spring like day in Portland and I headed downtown with a couple of neighbors and joined a peaceful protest in Monument Square. This is not usually in my comfort zone.

But there was so much energy and a beautiful sense of community with these like minded people.

I am so glad I went.

No matter what your politics are....how can you not believe that

"HATE WILL NOT MAKE US GREAT."

Vulnerability is not winning or losing. It's having the courage to show up when you can't control the outcome.  Brené Brown

Or how could we not want to MAKE LYING WRONG AGAIN.

Or to MAKE RACISM, SEXISM, & HATRED WRONG AGAIN.

And who doesn't want a world where we experience and grant MERCY for those most vulnerable.

Thank you Becky and Rochelle
for encouraging me to show up!

The willingness to show up changes us, it makes us
a little braver each time.  Brené Brown

  1. Kudos to you for showing up and letting yourselves be seen. We showed up today for a Town Hall with our district congressman. As it turned out, hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of us had to be turned away when the fire code capacity of the facility (600 people, I think) was filled. Very disappointing but we were simultaneously very encouraged to see SOOO many people SHOWING UP.

    1. Thanks Dotty. Wow...that's quite a turnout for the Town Hall...good for you and Dave for showing up even though you didn't get in. We just need to keep showing up when we can.
