Old topic...new twist. I love planting trees.....and I guess I like writing about them too.
Two years ago our gardener friend Aaron helped us plant a tree at the condo. It's an unusual tree called seven-son's flower and we hoped it would help shade the late afternoon sun. You can see it here at the back corner of the patio.
I wrote about planting that tree here: http://joyfulputtering.blogspot.com/2018/05/we-planted-tree.html
...and again here during the rest of the landscaping project: https://joyfulputtering.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-start-of-something.html
But what most excites me about this tree are the fall blossoms. This particular type of tree has white blooms in the fall that turn to a wonderful dark pink. We only had a few on the very tip top last year and I could barely see them and certainly couldn't photograph them. Aaron said that it only blooms on new growth...and it just didn't grow that much last year. Last fall he helped me prune it just a bit to promote lower growth.
This photo was taken in South Portland at our little vacation house where planted the very same tree. Isn't that bloom spectacular!

It must have finally settled in because this year it has new growth on every branch so is helping with the afternoon. But the best news is that the new growth on every branch already has buds. I'm so excited!
You'll most certainly be hearing about this tree again in the fall.
Every brach has buds at the end!
Celebrating new growth!
