"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

Advent Blue

Today is the first day of Advent....the season of waiting and preparing for Christmas. The liturgical color for Advent is blue....which happens to be opposite of yesterday's orange on the color wheel.

I decided to go blue and glittery green on the mantle this year....simple and festive.  I've had these heavy blue mercury glass ornaments for years and every now and again they make an appearance.

And speaking of blue....I picked up this prairie grass on sale and started an experiment wrapping it with blue variegated yarn.  It's still a work in progress....I'm thinking about a solid band at the top and/or bottom.

They may stay in some sort of a vase or maybe made into a hanging for the wall.  It's still unfolding...and there's a lot more grass.
