"I do believe in an everyday sort of magic...the inexplicable connectedness we sometimes experience with places, people, works of art and the like; the eerie appropriateness of moments of synchronicity; the whispered voice, the hidden presence, when we think we're alone." Charles de Lint

World Vision

"It always seems impossible until it's done." Nelson Mandela

Liz's dining room was pretty much a blank slate when I arrived.  She had a vision....which to be real honest....seemed a little daunting to all of us.

She started with this very formal Queen Anne furniture she inherited from her grandmother Shupe. Liz added several thrifted pieces and art and treasures from her her travels to the mix for what now has become her world travel room.

This is what it looked like a few days ago. We had been pulling things out....assessing what we had to work with.....and making plans to figure out how to pull it all together.

After tweaking the furniture placement...the next big task was installing her this large tapestry of Machu Picchu.

It changed the whole feel of the room adding warmth and texture.

This shelf was a thrift store find....and a good balance to the large hutch.  Today I spent a few hours styling it with her some of her collections and treasures from all over the world.
The rocking chair was also Grandma Shupe's. And if I remember correctly Margie, Liz's mom, gave her the giraffe tapestry behind it.  Liz collects giraffes.

This shelf was another thrift store find.....adding a dimensional element to this art wall.
I think the room meets...and maybe even surpasses Liz's "world vision."

And maybe the best thing about today was that my nephew Langston was there to help us out all day long.

Tomorrow...I'm going to teach him how to sew.

Again...."It always seems impossible until it's done."
Trouble is....there are still more rooms.
